Roland is passionate in helping other people enjoy the benefits of a strong and healthy body. His dedication for immaculate technique results in superior movement patterns in real life situations.

Fed up by the lack of carry over of standard gym training offers, he found CrossFit in 2005. Beginning of 2009, Roland started focusing exclusively on CrossFit and has since competed in the African Qualifiers for the CrossFit Games 2009, landing on the fifth spot.

Roland has full Western Province colours in both indoor Volleyball and Karate and half colours in Tennis. He has played Beach Volleyball semi professional when based in Vienna, Austria for 13 years and has competed internationally. He is a qualified indoor Volleyball trainer and has a black belt in Karate - Dojo Ishinryu.

After spending 16 years in Europe to further his education, Roland has re-located back to Cape Town in 2006 and runs his own IT company, Top-Node IT cc, from Cape Town City Bowl.

When not working, Roland takes a keen interest in a broad spectrum of activities which include guitar playing, reading, panoramic photography and traveling - to name a few. He believes that everyone has the right, privilege and obligation to be responsible for their own life - excuses are a sign of not wanting to fullfill this responsibility.

Roland is fluent in English, German and Afrikaans.
