How to row 42.000m
Not so long ago, on a Saturday, Rika completed a special workout in our gym. One that we would not let our students do on a regular basis - if just for the lack of time: She did a 42 kilometer row. Yup, that's right: a marathon. In support of the comrades marathon that was taking place on the same week end. That takes a lot of time you might think - and you are right. It took Rika just over 3 hours to complete the row. This is a very impressing feat and she did it all on her own. All on her own, really? Wait a second, I have footage that proves otherwise (see video above). But seriously: While Rika did the main part of the work, it was certainly nice to have someone on her side to support her, to feed her and even to pull a few strokes for her. Her husband Lluwellyn was truely great support that day (hopefully not only that day ...). Great job, both of you! Support is especially important when you are facing tough times in life - and in a tough workout. At Cape CrossFit, we are blessed to see support to some degree in almost every training session: a helping hand, a word of advice, a yell of support or just simply a smile. Again: We are blessed.
