This is not a gym. We've all done it. Paid a gym membership and never showed up. Or done the hardest part and got through the doors, only to turn around once we've swiped for the points. Our intentions were good - to get fit, healthy, lose weight, get strong but "going to the gym" never really did any of that. For most of us, our goals for health and fitness never really get realized by having a gym membership and "going to the gym." For me, thinking about the gym conjures up memories of a pungent chlorine smell, rows and rows of machines and me trying to zone out of it all with my headphones on as I pedal the bike, block by block trying to get healthy. I never got healthy going to the gym. Or strong, or fit for that matter. Sure I never actually had a plan or a program to follow which may have helped, or maybe if I had enough money to spend on a personal trainer. On the other hand, your CrossFit box is not a gym. CrossFit gives you a space to move, to play, to push your body to places you have never been. CrossFit is a place where you can take out your health goals and actually check them off. Motivation to achieve goals comes easy when you're surrounded by like minded individuals who are there with you to get fitter, faster, stronger than they were yesterday, and coaches who actually care. So next time you're at CrossFit, make an effort to get to know someone new, find out why they'e there and what there goals are, and how you could possibly help them achieve them. Chances are, you'll make a new friend, and actually help them become a better version of themselves than yesterday. Think about how good that could feel - now go out and do it. Because after all, CrossFit is not a gym. It's a way of life.
