CCF Eat Healthy Winter Challenge 2016

CCF Eat Healthy Winter Challenge 2016

05 May 2016

Our 3 CCF Winter Challenges are starting on Monday, so we thought we'd break them down separately for you one at the time. The CCF Eat Healthy Winter Challenge is based on 8 weeks, where you will spend the first 21 days cleaning out anything that could be bad for you - but the real win will be when those habits becomes a part of your healthy lifestyle, forever. Summer bodies are made in winter but our goal is to keep your maintaining it all year round by training hard and fuelling your body correctly! the-paleo-diet-pyramid

  • What: 8 Week "CCF Eat Healthy Challenge" starting on the 9th May 2016.
  • How: We do initial measurements and before pictures and then again after 8 weeks, the best improvements will win epic prizes.
  • Fee: R200 (most of it goes back into the prize pool).
  • Sign up info: You sign up by bringing in R200 to the box (CASH ONLY) on the dates below the coaches will take measurements and pictures.

If you can't make any of the schedule times, please book a 20min Skill Session with your coach before the challenge starts. (These are FREE as a part of your membership) Below is some info that will help you be the best version of yourself, without turning into a crazed maniac about food. We believe in balance and we want to help you become the most balanced person you can be! The foundation of what we do is based on a solid nutrition plan. Take a look at the original "CrossFit Prescription," in his 100 Words of World Class Fitness, Greg Glassman writes: "Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat." Only then does he go on to talk about our training principles. 1453956625283 Somewhere along the line, these basics have been skewed and the fitness world has begun to advocate and applaud dietary habits that in the long run, will do more harm than good for our average CrossFitter. "Lays and L-Sits" or "Koeksisters and Clean" are catchy brand names but they are not going to improve your health or your midline - because lets be honest here - we also want to look smoking hot naked.

Small tweaks to your current eating habits can ensure that your 60min spent at Cape Crossfit or training is really optimised to suit you and your goals - this is our aim for our 8 Week Nutrition Challenge.

Initially we are going to execute this plan by taking the Whole30 approach to this challenge (unless you have done it previously but more on that in the next blog post) but we are "only" asking you to follow the guidelines below 100% for 21 days. Why "only" 21? Well, we know that if some can break and/adhere to a habit for 21 days, they can maintain it forever. Our goal for the first 3 weeks of the challenge is to set you up for success not only for the 8 weeks of the total challenge but for the rest of your life.
This is how its gonna work:
Make a commitment to yourself to clean up your diet of all foods that could be hindering your progress and goals. Do this for 21 days.

Eat:
Meat
Seafood
Eggs
All the vegetables
Fruit
Nuts
Seeds
Oils (Olive and Coconut

Stay away from:
Sugar - processed and natural
Alcohol
Grains
Legumes
Dairy
“Paleo Treats"

After the 21 days, you can slowly introduce some of the food items previously eliminated from your diet (one at the time!) but we need a full 21 days to “ reset your relationship with food” and break any bad habits and addictions (Yes, sugar is an ADDICTION).

Now its time to build your healthy eating habits, I will be helping you through the process with weekly blogposts that will guide and educate you on this journey.

We will start taking measurement this week and the schedule is as follows in our three different CCF Boxes:
